  6.               For Windows NT Operating System, October release.
  7.  
  8.    Desktop+ is a Control Panel applet for Windows NT. It gives you access
  9. to many Windows desktop settings not otherwise available except for direct
  10. editing. In addition, a second file is included to automatically log you in
  11. as the Administrator, bypassing the Ctrl-Alt-Del window and so on. To begin
  12. using Desktop+, copy NTDESK.CPL and NTDESK.HLP to your Windows system
  13. directory, probably "\WINNT\SYSTEM". The next time you start the Control
  14. Panel, you should see a strange new icon....that being Desktop+. Doubleclick
  15. the new icon to start the applet.

  23. Available Options -

  25.    * Menu Settings
  26.       Delay: Millisecond delay between clicking on a menu and it's appearing.
  27.       Left / Right Align: Aligns menu text to left or right side of a menu.
  28.  
  29.    * Icons
  30.       Vertical Spacing: Pixels between each icon, including text.
  31.       Desktop Fonts: Displays a dialog box from which you may pick a font,
  32.                      font size and style to use for the desktop, Program
  33.                      Manager and icons. Select a font and press Enter or OK
  34.                      to accept or Cancel to exit.

  36.    * Help Colors: Various "jump points" in Windows Help are colored by
  37.                      whether they jump to a different topic or a popup window
  38.                      or run a macro. The colors for each of these items may be
  39.                      changed by clicking on the button to change, displaying a
  40.                      color dialog box. Select a color for the item chosen and
  41.                      press Enter or OK to accept or Cancel to exit.

  43.    * Double-Click Settings: Determines the maximum number of pixels a mouse
  44.                      may move between two clicks and still have it considered
  45.                      a double-click. Enter the pixel spacing and press Enter
  46.                      or OK to accept, Cancel to exit.

  48.    * Log On Settings: You may change the default user name and system domain
  49.                      that appears in the Logon dialog box. In addition, you
  50.                      may change your desktop shell and whether the system
  51.                      automatically logs on the Adminstrator. In order for the
  52.                      "Automatic Logon" feature to work, you will also need to
  53.                      copy AUTOADMN.EXE to your Windows system directory and
  54.                      add the program to Program Manager's "Startup" group.
  55.                      Failing to do so will only let your system automatically
  56.                      start once.

  58.    * DOS Box Settings: Allows you to change the text color, size and command
  59.                      buffer size ("Doskey" emulation) of "DOS boxes".

  61.    * Program Manager: Allows various levels of security in menu items and
  62.                      icon property settings.
  63.  
  64.    The "Automatic Logon" feature automatically logs in the admininstrator
  65. when Windows boots, bypassing the usual Ctrl-Alt-Del, log in procedure. In
  66. order to use the feature, you should set the Default User to your system's
  67. Adminstrator name (mine's "Administrator") and select the checkbox. If the
  68. administrator doesn't need a password, you're on your way. You also need to
  69. include AUTOADMN in your Startup group. This little program reads the Auto-
  70. -login settings and updates the system. If you select Auto-login and fail to
  71. put the program in the Startup group, it will only auto-login one time,
  72. reverting back to the normal pattern ever after.

  75.    Note that some of the settings available to not take effect until the next
  76.         time Windows is restarted from the bottom up. Others, such as the Log
  77.         On settings, take effect the next logon.
